NT Thunder is pleased to welcome back reliable defender Daniel Weetra and speedy midfielder Nick Yarran to the club.

Both players departed before the 2018 season to pursue opportunities interstate but have since returned to Darwin for personal reasons and approached the club about seeing out the playing contracts they had in place.

Weetra who was inducted into the NT Thunder Team of the Decade on Saturday night is a 2015 premiership player and is classed as a medium utility that can play against both tall and small forwards.

While 20-year-old Yarran had a breakout year for the club in 2017 and has a ferocious attack on the footy for his size.

Thunder Head Coach Andrew Hodges said both players left with the club’s blessing, but he was glad to have them back.

“Both Weeties and Yaz are quality players and when they said they wanted to try other avenues we were of course disappointed to lose them but were supportive of their decision.

“Since returning both of them have shown a sense of maturity and commitment to the club that is most pleasing and I believe they will add great versatility to our group this year and into the future.

“Weetra’s ball use and decision making is some of the best I’ve had the privilege to coach while Nicky has elite foot skills and impressive composure,” Hodges said.
