NT Thunder Football Club (NTFC) was informed this morning that player, Thomas Davies was sentenced in Darwin Local Court yesterday after being found guilty of aggravated assault.
He was issued a sentence of two months’ imprisonment but released immediately on a six-month good behaviour bond.
The incident occurred on Sunday 24 June 2018 on Lindsay Street in Darwin.
Davies decided to keep the incident and following court proceedings private until an outcome had been reached.
NT Thunder Football Club takes matters of this nature very seriously and does not condone violence of any kind.
The club’s internal process will now come into effect and the NTFC Disciplinary Committee will meet to discuss the matter. A recommendation from the Committee regards Davies and the club will then be put forward to the AFLNT Executive for endorsement.
The NTFC Disciplinary Committee will refer to the club’s Domestic Violence Action Plan (DVAP), of which matters of this nature fall under. The club will also work closely with AFLNT’s charity partner, the NO MORE Campaign, to ensure any suggested course of action takes into consideration their input.
The wellbeing of Davies and his family remains of utmost importance to the club and the management at NTFC will continue to support them.
The club/AFLNT will make no further comment at this stage and will advise of any disciplinary outcomes once signed off by the AFLNT Executive.
