Darren Reeves talks to consistency

We will focus on what we can control

While we didn’t get the result we were hoping for last Saturday night there were still a lot of positives to take away from the game. Full credit goes to Brisbane, they are a club that is in the right place with a full playing list all on the same page, and they were very good for the four quarters. But we know where we are right now, and it was an excellent experience for our new list in our first game together.

One of our key focuses has been around consistency of our effort, no matter what the circumstances are, be it playing at home or away, or whatever the scoreboard reads we know that we can control this aspect. Respect of our opposition and our supporters can be earned by turning up week in and week out and playing consistently, so we are hellbent on doing this. While it was a tough slog, there is no question that the guys did this last weekend. This is the challenge we take with us this weekend into our first away trip.

It is an exciting prospect with Sydney Uni being a consistent finals team over the last few years and coming off a good win. While they are a different opposition to Brisbane, we will focus on what we can control, which is our effort over long periods. If we can put in this effort, then there is a lot of belief in our talent and improvement in our methods that we will be right in the contest late in the game.

Being a squad with several new players this away trip has come at a great time to keep building relationships and to spend time with each other off the ground.

Congratulations to the debutants taking the field, this is just another great opportunity for us to expose our local talent to the next level.
We can’t wait! Go Thunder!
