The Northern Territory Football Club is pleased to welcome TIO as a Premier Partner of the Club’s ThunderW team.

TIO is a long-term and valued supporter of Territory football, and has fostered opportunities for Territorians via its financial support of AFL stadiums in both Darwin and Alice Springs, and naming rights to the Territory’s two major leagues, the Central Australian Football League (TIO CAFL) and Northern Territory Football League (TIO NTFL).

In 2018, TIO has extended its partnership with Territory Football by injecting a further $30,000 into the female football pathway to ensure the immediate success of the extension of the Thunder franchise through ThunderW.

TIO Chief Executive Officer, Daryl Madden, said TIO was thrilled to be supporting the inaugural ThunderW team.

“AFL is a big part of life in the NT, it brings communities together, and we are thrilled to be able to support the ThunderW team, creating a final step in the talent pathway for female football,” Madden said.

“Our support spans the length and breadth of the NT, and we are pleased to be making a contribution directly to the female game.

“I wish all the women announced in today’s team the very best of luck leading into Round 1 next week and we look forward to seeing you play here at TIO Stadium at home on the 19th of May,” he said.

AFLNT CEO Stuart Totham said TIO’s continued support ensured the Territory’s top female football team would be well-equipped for the upcoming VFLW season.

“AFLNT has worked hard to create the programs and facilities to support all our players, and we are very fortunate to have the continued support of TIO, Daryl and his team to ensure we look the part and can match the investment required to support a VFLW team.

“When the players run out for their first game next Saturday, and the TIO stamp sits proudly on their guernseys, they’ll know that they’ve got their backs, as does the Territory community,” Totham said.
