Time to honour our history

This weekend marks an important part of celebrations in the club’s short history, 10 years of NT Thunder which the side will mark by wearing a special commemorative jumper.

The jumper has embedded on it each player to represent the club over the past 10 years. Great players such as the Ilett and Rioli brothers, Andrew McLeod, Shannon Rusca, Richard Tambling, Jake Dignan, Kenrick Tyrell, Charlie Maher, Aaron Motlop, Darren Ewing and the list goes on. 228 talented players to have pulled on our guernsey.

The contribution the past and present players have made to this Club and in representing the Northern Territory has been unwavering. A lot of hard work, commitment and passion went into building and moulding our strong club culture.

Equally to the players, the support staff and volunteers have also made a significant contribution. The long hours of dedication and hard work allowing the Club to put a side out each week does not go unnoticed. Without our long list of volunteers and administration, the club would not be where it is today.

With a third of the 2018 season now done and dusted, we sit at three wins and four losses. The first part of the season has been challenging, seeing us doing a bulk of the required travel to away games. The next three weeks again present a challenge, at home against GWS then away to Aspley and Canberra Demons. The next three games are critical in the context of the season. We must keep ourselves on the winning list. With six of our final eight games at home later this season, a massive opportunity presents if we make the right moves now.

It’s time this week for the current group to show that Territory pride, to dig in and grind out a win as the great players of past 10 years did before them.
