NT Thunder Football Club welcomes back Will Farrer after a five-year absence, with the four-time NTFL leading goalkicker set to be a great inclusion to the 2019 team.

The reigning NTFL premiership captain played 46 games and kicked 66 goals for NT Thunder from 2011 – 2013 and was a member of both 2011 premiership teams.

The 28-year-old has been a constant figure for Southern Districts in the NTFL since 2010, and before missing the past five weeks with a back-related injury, had played 10 games and kicked 16 goals so far this season.

Farrer also led the Crocs to premiership glory last season kicking three goals in the grand final.

In 2018 he broke a long-standing record in the Big Rivers Football League kicking 18 goals in one game while playing for Eastside.

NT Thunder Head Coach Darren Reeves was unreservedly excited to sign Farrer.

“Will has shown over a long period that he is of the most gifted players going around and we are thrilled to get him back in Thunder colours.

“I’ve been rapt with how he has attacked his rehab and training with us over the last few weeks, and we look forward to seeing him playing his best football moving forward. It certainly adds an exciting dimension to our forward line,” he said.

NT Thunder Manager Andrew Hodges said Farrer was always on the hit list to attract back to the club.

“It’s outstanding to get a premiership player back to the club. His talent and leadership will be invaluable to our 2019 NEAFL campaign.

Farrer said he welcomed the opportunity to play at NEAFL level.

“I’m really excited to be back and am looking forward to a huge season. Hopefully, I can get back to my best and enjoy footy with the boys,” he said.
