NT Thunder is excited to announce the return of Phillip Wills for season 2018.

A 50-game player for the Club, Wills is a highly respected leader and popular figure in Territory football.

He played 18 games for Thunder in 2016 before a serious groin injury forced him into surgery and rehabilitation.

A vocal leader amongst the playing group, in 2015 and again in 2016, he was voted by his peers and the coaches to be part of the Thunder leadership group and captained the side in their 2016 Indigenous Round match against Redland in Alice Springs.

The 30-year-old is also a 150-game player in the NTFL and a former captain of the Darwin Buffaloes Football Club before making the switch to the Nightcliff Tigers Football Club this season.

NT Thunder Head Coach Andrew Hodges said Wills had been a constant familiar face around the Club and his determination was to be admired.

“I’m delighted to have ‘Willsy’ sign on for 2018, his experience and leadership qualities are great to have around the playing group.

“He has been working hard in the Thunder gym with his rehabilitation to ensure his body is right and we are looking forward to having his hardness around the contest back when the season begins.”
