The experienced Darren ‘Boof’ Ewing returned to NT Thunder in 2018 for his tenth and final consecutive season with the Club. In 2018, he received his tenth NT Thunder Leading Goalkicker award after finishing the season with 51 goals to his name. That is ten consecutive leading goalkicker awards since the club’s inception in 2009. The star forward not only contributed on the field but off the field too, receiving the 2018 KIK Digital Community and Media Award. Boof polled fourth in NT Thunder’s 2018 Ilett Medal, finishing with an impressive 101 votes over the 17 games he played. He was also named in the NEAFL Team of the Year for seven consecutive season, from 2011-2017. Boof came third in the 2017 Club Champion Award. Ewing made history when he became the first player to kick 700 Thunder goals, in Round 12 of the 2017 season.
