NT Thunder is excited to sign 24-year-old Darwin born and bred, Dylan McLachlan to its NEAFL playing list for 2019.

It will be his first time representing the Territory, though he has played more than 160 games for Southern Districts (from Under 16 level up), rising through the junior ranks to become one of the Crocs most reliable players.

A talented junior rugby union player, McLachlan has developed into a robust midfielder and was an integral part of the NTFL Men’s Premier League premiership team earlier this year.

Already this season he has equalled his games and goals tally from last, playing all 11 games to date and booting six goals.

NT Thunder Head Coach Darren Reeves was pleased with his latest signing, saying he offered versatility.

“Dylan is another excellent addition to our 2019 list. He adds to the key midfield area, as both an inside and outside type player and also provides us with a forward option.

“He’s at the perfect age to play a pivotal role for us next year, using the wealth of games he has under his belt and building on the outstanding football he’s been displaying at NTFL level.

NT Thunder Manager Andrew Hodges said he enjoyed seeing the progression of players like McLachlan.

“The NT Thunder program exists for guys like this, who have come through juniors at their local club before advancing to playing consistent, senior football and who want to challenge themselves at the next level and represent the NT,” he said.

McLachlan, who has been attending Monday’s recovery training for the past few weeks said he looked forward to the season ahead.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to play for Thunder in 2019, it’s a great organisation, and I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the group in the year ahead,” he said.
