NT Thunder is pleased to announce the signing of Elcho Island product Lochlan Dhurrkay to the 2017 line up.

Born in Nhulunbuy but raised on Elcho Island, Dhurrkay plays for Palmerston in the NTFL and is the nephew of the late Territorian footballing great, Gary Dhurrkay.

He has risen through the junior ranks at Palmerston while attending boarding school at Kormilda College in Darwin.

The 21-year-old played two games for NT Thunder in 2015 and in 2016 he was part of the Rio Tinto ‘Footy Means Business’ development program and was labeled a ’standout Territorian player’ by coach Aaron Davey.

Dhurrkay has played 45 Premier League games for Palmerston, including three in the 2016/17 TIO NTFL season.

NT Thunder Head Coach Andrew Hodges said Dhurrkay reinforced the Club’s belief that the Territory was full of footballing talent.

“Lochy is an exciting remote community based player, a silky smooth utility with an uncanny ability to use the ball in any situation and make good decisions,” Hodges said.
