Eagles pair set to soar for Thunder

The dynamic Wanderers duo of Neil Vea Vea and Daniel Weetra will be back to aid NT Thunder’s defensive structures in 2017 after both players committed to the Club.

Vea Vea is a versatile tall who can also play as a backup ruckman and doesn’t shy away from having a run through the midfield either.

Over the previous four seasons, he has accumulated 55 NT Thunder career games and enjoyed a good win for his 50th outing against 2016 NEAFL Premiers, GWS in Round 10.

Known to hassle his opponents on the field, Vea Vea is a much-loved character of the Club and unquestionably a fan favourite.

Not as boisterous but just as effective on field is his Wanderers teammate Daniel Weetra, who will line up for his third season in the Territory colours.

A 2015 Premiership player, Weetra is a medium utility that has the ability to play against both tall and small forwards.

NT Thunder Head Coach, Andrew Hodges described the duo as important re-signings.

“Vea Vea’s ability to play multiple positions creates welcomed options to the coaching staff. He is one of my favourite personalities around the Club and I look forward to working with him again.

“Weetra adds much-needed strength and versatility to our defence, his ball use and decision making sees him as an invaluable member of the squad,” Hodges said.
