Coach’s Column Round 20

12.08.16 16:50

This weekend we face another big challenge in the Sydney Swans. The Swans have been the dominant side in the NEAFL this year only dropping two games.

With the bye last weekend it gave the players and coaches a chance to recharge our batteries and refocus on the last two home and away games.

I am excited to see Tennant Creek youngster Isaiah Farrell-Nelson make his senior debut this weekend. Isaiah will bring some excitement into our side with his smooth skills and ability to find the goals; he will compliment Justin Cooper, Michael Hagan and Michael Mummery well.

Jared Brennan is back from an ankle injury and Raph Clarke will come back into the side after he was a late withdrawal against the Demons. Both Clarke and Brennan add experience to our line-up.

We have been crying out for a four-quarter consistent effort. We have shown quarters and halves of brilliance but that’s not going to win you too many games especially against quality opposition.

This was evident in our clash against the Canberra Demons a fortnight ago. We had a slow first half but ended up kicking 12.7 in the second to almost snatch the game after being 45 points down at half time.

The belief in the group is strong and with only two games left of the home and away season that belief needs to shine through on Saturday night against the best side in the NEAFL.

This weekend is an opportunity for us to make a statement and we will need everyone on board not just the 23 who run out on tonight.

Get down tonight and support the boys in what will be a quality game of NEAFL football.
