#12daysThunderXmas. Day 5: Emery, a new Thunder face

In exciting news for NT Thunder, 20-year-old Kyle Emery has signed for the Club ahead of the 2017 NEAFL season.

He is the first player under new head coach Andrew Hodges not to have played for NT Thunder previously.

The medium-size utility has been in impressive form for Nightcliff, kicking 24 goals so far this TIO NTFL season.

Emery, who grew up in the Territory, moved to the Gold Coast with his family a few years ago and was part of the Gold Coast SUNS Under 18 Academy before moving back to Darwin and playing for the Tigers the past two seasons.

Hodges said Emery was a consistent performer who he was excited to have join the team.

“There’s a lot to like about Kyle. He has the right attitude and skill, which should see him slot nicely into the forward line as a medium-size accompaniment to Ewing (Darren Ewing).

“I am hopeful Kyle is just one of a few fresh faces we will have playing for NT Thunder next year,” Hodges said.

In 2017 Emery will be sponsored by McDonald’s.
