Following his impressive form in the NTFL, the Daly River’s Adam Sambono has signed to play for NT Thunder in the upcoming NEAFL season.

The 20-year-old has been playing consistent Premier League grade football with the Darwin Buffaloes, so far amassing nine games and 27 goals in the 2016/17 competition.

Most notable was his outstanding 10-goal effort against the Tiwi Bombers in Round 6 and the follow-up statement he made, declaring his desire to play for Thunder.

Sambono, who only began playing Premier League footy in the 2014/15 season, quickly became one of the most exciting young Territory prospects after kicking three goals in each of his first three games and winning the NT News Rising Star award at the end of the season.

NT Thunder Head Coach Andrew Hodges said he was glad to give Sambono the opportunity that he wanted.

“When Adam said he wanted to play for the Club and then I was appointed as the coach, I was very keen to talk to him.

“He is a terrific talent. He is entertaining to watch because he is very fast and uses the ball well.

“He has kicked 58 goals in his past two NTFL seasons and, though only a slight frame, he can hold his own,” Hodges said.
