Ankers earned the 2019 NEAFL Team of the Year captaincy honours and finished third in the NEAFL’s MVP. In 2019, for the second consecutive year, Ankers played all 18 games and after an outstanding performance was awarded the Ilett Medal at NT Thunder’s Club Champion night. On top of this, he also received the Darren Ewing Leading Goalkicker award alongside Kieran Delahunty, both kicking 17 goals apiece. In 2018 Ankers was named the Club’s Players’ Player Award for his efforts both on and off the field. The speedy inside midfielder is based in Alice Springs and clocked up over 66,000kms travelling to games in 2019.
