NT Thunder player management

NT Thunder Football Club (NTFC) wishes to respond to queries regards Cameron Ilett’s player management plan.

Upon completion of the 2017 NEAFL season, Ilett undertook the required NTFC medical assessment and was issued with an unrestricted player management plan for the 2017/18 TIO NTFL season.

The plan’s recommendation was based on the same data used for all players’ plans; GPS, training, hydration and work load data.

The NTFC Player Movement Rule acts as a guide that is subject to individual player management plans.

Some of the individual points that form the rule, including restricting players to 10 NTFL games, have been superseded by the data that became available in the past NEAFL season.

Only two members of the 2017 NT Thunder playing group were issued a player management plan of 10 NTFL games plus finals, while the majority of players to fall under any kind of restriction were given 14 NTFL games plus finals.

There were subsequently 28 players given unrestricted/no restriction player management plans, of which Ilett is included.

As is the case with all NT Thunder players competing in the NTFL, they will be closely monitored and Monday night recovery and conditioning sessions are specifically designed to aid with injury prevention.

Upon the player’s physical and mental wellbeing, and the advice of medical experts, NT Thunder will carefully manage players through the NEAFL season, should they require it.
