Coach's Column Round 4

Keen to bounce back with a win – Round 4

21.04.17 11:31

This Saturday’s game brings an interesting challenge as we take on a determined Redland Bombers who are yet to register a win in 2017. It’s a challenge our group will not take lightly after the loss in round two against the Brisbane Lions and we are keen to bounce back with a win.

After the disappointing display at home against the Lions, the players had a much needed rest over the Easter long weekend with round three being our first bye of the season. With a majority of the Thunder list playing deep into NTFL finals, the bye came at the right time for us. However the players over the past week have been extremely focused on regaining some respect after their last performance.

With this weekend’s game played as our annual ANZAC Day clash against the Bombers away at Tidbold Park, there is no doubt the game will be played in the ANZAC sprit of endurance, courage, ingenuity, good humour, larrikinism, and mateship.

The Bombers are a clever side that has a number of talented players around the ground, three goals each on the weekend to former Collingwood player Peter Yagmoor and former Brisbane Lion Jackson Paine against Sydney University shows they can be dangerous in front of goals if given the opportunity. We will need to travel with a strong team defence first mentality to dry up the Bombers scoring opportunities.

It’s exciting to see our Thunder Juniors kick off their season this Friday night at TIO Stadium. The Thunder Juniors program has been an important part of our talent pathways, with eight current senior listed players for NT Thunder coming through the program. Under 9’s kick off at 6pm, under 11’s boys and under 12’s girls competitions at 7pm.

Don’t miss this weeks action when we take on the Bombers, catch the game live on Thundervision from 1.30pm Brisbane time to support your team. ‘Territory Footy, We’re All In This Together’
