The Catch to make National debut in Darwin

Get set for a big weekend and a potential MacFarlane v Motlop classic grand final match up as The Catch will make its Australian debut in Darwin.

Both men need no introduction in the Northern Territory with Peter McFarlane an eight-time premiership player for the St Mary’s Football Club and Shannon Motlop a Wanderers Team of the Century member who also played 64 AFL games including a premiership for North Melbourne in 1999.

AFL great Kevin Sheedy will also be on-hand to award the winner at TIO Stadium this Saturday 29th July at the NT Thunder vs Southport game.

The Catch is a one-on-one marking competition where each knockout match consists of four contests, with two players competing to catch a football delivered by a 40-metre drop punt.

The best catch in the NTFL will win a prize pool for him and his NTFL club worth a massive $9,000 with runner up prizes as well with players from all Premier League and Div 1 NTFL clubs have been invited to participate.

Kicking off at 12.30pm after the AFL Women’s State Academy Game, The Catch will hold preliminary rounds with players advancing to the final at half time of the NT Thunder game around 4pm.

Exciting Darwin Buffaloes players Jalen Clarke, Kevin Maroney, Tim Eldridge and Steven Anderson have all joined the race to take the best catch.

The Palmerston Magpies will have up and coming youngsters Rodney Baird and Noel Collins representing them in the competition. Both played Premier League in the 2016/17 NTFL season.

Michael Bowden, Zac Smith and Kane Davis will represent Southern Districts along and Nick Gooch from Waratah will be trying hard to take the big grab for the red and white.

Luke Howieson will pull on the jumper for PINT and other players who will participate on the day include Dillen Brown from Wanderers, Jordan Cullen from St Mary’s and Nightcliff duo Patrick White and Matthew Trzeciak.

And not wanting to miss out on all the action, rumours are circulating that former AFL star and Tiwi Bombers premiership player, the exciting Aussie Wonaeamerri will make an appearance.

Fans are encouraged to come down and watch the early action with free entry until 2pm and the NT Thunder vs Southport game kicking off at 3pm. Fans will also have a chance to win some money in a quarter time Catch competition during the Thunder game.
